Skilken House, Bart Prince - Architect

A 75' pool.

In the living space.

You have no idea how much that rocks my world.

How I have been compiling this blog for YEARS now and not discovered Bart Prince, is one of those mysteries that I have no answer for. I'm not so wild about all the stairs involved here (aging knees have made me allergic to steps) but how gorgeous is this home in Columbus, Ohio?

Sculpture by John Jagger - Sculpterra Winery

A little love today for the Steampunk fans out there!

I spotted the image of the sleeping big cat on some random search, which resulted in an immediate "WOW".  Thankfully, the internet is much better at image matching today and people are getting better about labeling and adding attributes to photos. Thus I found not only where said kitty rested, but the name of her sculptor.

Even better, there is a whole garden of these gorgeous bronze sculptures by John Jagger - and they all live happy at a winery. A winery in one of my favorite vacation destinations.

How awesome is that?

Awesome Bridge Files - Henderson Waves Bridge

Of the two cities in the world that I see investing heavily in striking, world-class, creative architecture - Dubai and Singapore - I find myself more drawn to the organic creativity of Singapore.

I posted some shots of the Helix Bridge in Singapore last year, the Henderson Waves bridge would be more striking (in my opinion) if the scenic treatment hadn't been just a facade. I found myself disappointed when I realized that the "waves" were only on one side. This would have been much cooler if the waves were little tunnels you passed through.

Fairies of the Forest - Art Photography by Yume Cyan

I found this via a new favorite blog, Laughingsquid.

I had never seen Fireflies until I moved to New York as an adult (Fireflies don't appreciate Alaska!) I remember being out on a date one late summer night near the edge of a forest and being enchanted by seeing them for the first time. So, this series of long exposure photographs by Yume Cyan brought back a smile and a fond memory.

I hope it does for you as well.

Art Nouveau Lighting Fixtures

I am seriously challenged with getting back to regular blogging after having had my life eaten by three months going through The Founder Institute.

While I'm getting my groove back on, let's ogle some Art Nouveau lighting fixtures - many of which are probably more expensive than your rent/mortgage payment - but that's just how we roll here.

I'm thinking I should create a new label category called "things I want but can't afford."

Listening to Wikipedia

Oh, the cleverness.

Coders Mahmoud Hashemi and Stephen LaPorte have created this very cool little application that virtualizes an orchestra based on edits to Wikipedia. Every Wikipedia edit creates a sound, the higher the pitch, the smaller the edit.

Calabarte Art Lamps

My fetish for expensive and gorgeous lighting fixtures continues!

When I saw these amazing carved gourd lamps from Calabarte I literally stopped breathing for a few seconds as the word "WANT" echoed through my head.

Followed shortly by "MUST HAVE" and "DANG, THOSE ARE NOT CHEAP."

These lovelies are by Polish artist Przemek KrawczyƄski and each one is carved by hand.
