Melogranoblu 'Maelström' Light Installation

A lighting installation AND a floor show, what could be better? I saw a picture of this with just the blue illuminated and was sold. Then I found video and...ooooh, it changes colors! Double sold. Designed by light and glass artists Melogranoblu.

Art Lighting by Bruce Munro

When last we visited the masterworks of Bruce Munro, he was planting lights in fields. He's hanging them from ceilings as well, which delights me to no end.

Everyone knows by know that Pinterest is a rabbit hole that will suck up vast amounts of your time clicking on pretty picture after pretty picture. That was, of course, how I ran across the first of these installations by Mr. Munro and went "Hey, I know that name. Wasn't that the guy...."  And here we are.

Shylights by Studio Drift

Long time fan of Studio DRIFT! I love how every piece they create invokes the crossroads of nature and technology. Technology can be very bland and cold, even in the hands of Apple. Making technology as breathtakingly beautiful as nature both skill and the soul of an artist.

Art Lighting Fixtures by Sharon Marston

Apparently I cannot get enough lighting fixtures these days. The latest ones to catch my eye are these lovelies by Sharon Marston.

The ones I like best are the long, sweeping cascades from the ceiling. My obvious flair for DRAMA is showing ;)

Lasvit "Bubbles in Space"

Honestly, I could probably fill an entire blog with all the amazing lighting designs I've seen come out of Lasvit. Being as I'm attempting a bit of restraint, I'll just highlight one of my favorites :)

The original idea for "Bubbles in Space" came from champagne bubbles, so it seems appropriate to feature it as we roll into holiday festivities - and more importantly, my birthday :)

I think I might like the version with all white/clear glass vs the bi-color version. It would really depend on where it was hanging and the overall ambiance you're creating.

However, it's early in the day and now I'm questioning why no one has come up with champagne coffee yet....

More gorgeous things to put on your walls and ceilings! I really love these paper wall lanterns for their fluid, organic shapes. Put LED bulbs these babies and you've got art that's energy efficient. Who doesn't love that?

My favorite quote from creator William Leslie's website: "I strive to create beautiful forms that will invite people out of their mental busyness to see the timelessness in passing time. Human life, too, is a whirling dance of patterns within patterns".

Art Lighting Fixtures by Stephen White

Rumor has it that I love a groovy light fixture (a look at the blog archives suggests I might like them more than just a little...)

So, when these started floating by in my Pinterest feed, I was intrigued.

Aren't these lovely? Created by Stephen White who started making his own lighting fixtures out of need for one in his own home.

Luminasia at the LA County Fair

It's a rare treat when I get to actually go see some of the amazing things I feature on this blog!

I was delighted (DELIGHTED, I tell you) to run across this fantastic lighting sculptural display at the LA County Fair this week called Luminasia.

49 artisans from China have built this spectacular display right on site in Pomona over the course of 6 weeks. I have to admit that I have no love for the gaudy, carny atmosphere of county fairs but this is worthy of the trip if you can avoid the instant-heart-attack food offerings. Bonus: you want to see this at night when temperatures have cooled off.

Drops of Light - Art Lighting Installation by Torafu

In my fantasy world where I have a ton of rooms and spaces to decorate and create compelling experiences for people, I'd put these as the main overhead lighting in one of them. Probably combined with Troika's "Light Rain" so you get the movement under your feet, the sound of rain, and the visual of the glass beads suspended from the sky over your head.

Add in a bar, and the whole thing would be a rocking experience.

The bulbs in this installation by Torafu Architects are hand blown, from recycled materials.

Lighting Art from Aqua Creations - Morning Glory Collection

So, I'm looking at Aqua Creations' website and trying to figure out which of these glories to blog.

Then it occurs to me that I've been sucking pretty hard at getting posts onto this blog (startups are really a time eater...) and boy howdy is there a lot of material here. So, I think we'll spend a few blog posts touring the various collections because they are pretty damned amazing.

This set is Morning Glory (for obvious reasons) and designed by Ayala Serfaty.

Wire Lamps by Forestier Paris

In my quest to leave no gorgeous lighting fixture unblogged, I present to you the Fil de Fer lamp collection by Forestier Paris.

At first I liked the table lamps better, then I decided I liked the pendant fixtures. Of the table lamps, my eye is drawn to the curvy model, but the more angular shapes look better hanging.

Maybe I need them all?

Art Nouveau Lighting Fixtures

I am seriously challenged with getting back to regular blogging after having had my life eaten by three months going through The Founder Institute.

While I'm getting my groove back on, let's ogle some Art Nouveau lighting fixtures - many of which are probably more expensive than your rent/mortgage payment - but that's just how we roll here.

I'm thinking I should create a new label category called "things I want but can't afford."
