Blogging gets tough when the schedule goes nuts! Today, a much overdue post on stunning lighting art from UK artist Bruce Munro. I've had the video for this open in a browser tab for over a week and here it finally is.
Frosted acrylic orbs. Miles of fiber optic cable. Color scrolling projection.
Dramatic. Lovely. Cool as hell.
Also, I need this in my backyard. Somebody get on that, please, right away.
The annual Open House of Hubbell Studios was simply wonderful! I got to see the new Chapel finally, it is just about the most wonderful spot you can possibly imagine. Sitting inside one is treated to a spectacular view of the valley below.
From my "things that make you go ooooohhhhh" files.
This piece of 30m (that's 8 stories to US readers) high piece of loveliness hangs in the atrium of the Welcome Trust Building in London. Designed by Thomas Heartherwick, the sculpture uses 142,000 glass spheres suspended on 27,000 high tensile steel wires. The effect is almost like a waterfall of light and color.
More pictures from my personal collection taken at a previous Hubbell Open House. Don't forget to pick up your tickets for this year, the event is only a couple of weeks away (June 17th!) If you can't make it, fear not, I'll be there with camera in hand during the morning tour.
